User guide
From your first dictation to every setting on Windows and Android. Find the answer without technical jargon.
Three steps to your first dictation.
Open Dikto and enter the email and password you used to register at dikto.mk. You need to sign in the first time; after that, your saved session will not block dictation during a brief internet interruption.
Paste your API key in Settings. If you do not have one yet, follow the ElevenLabs tutorial.
On Windows, press Ctrl + Space. On Android, open the app, press the large microphone button, and speak naturally.
Open the gear in the upper-right corner to access these settings.
Choose the language you use most often for dictation: Macedonian or English. Change it before a dictation that will be entirely in the other language; this setting does not change the language of buttons and menus.
In “Hold,” keep the shortcut pressed while speaking and release it to finish. In “Tap,” press once to start and again to stop — useful for longer dictations.
When enabled, Dikto shows the transcribed text first so you can review or edit it. Turn it off for a faster flow that inserts text directly into the active field.
The shortcut starts dictation even while you are working in another app. Choose a supported format under “Type,” then use “Record new shortcut” and press the key combination you want.
If another program already uses the combination, choose a different one to avoid a conflict.
Choose which microphone Dikto uses. Change it when using a headset or external microphone, or when input comes from the wrong device.
“Start with Windows” opens Dikto automatically after you sign in to your computer. “Create desktop shortcut” adds an icon for opening it manually; it does not change the dictation shortcut.
“System” follows the Windows appearance. Choose “Light” or “Dark” to keep Dikto's appearance fixed regardless of the system theme.
Enter the ElevenLabs API key used for transcription here. The key is stored encrypted on this computer; if it is incorrect or expired, Dikto cannot send audio for transcription.

Open the gear in the upper-right corner of the main screen.
Choose Macedonian or English based on the language you dictate most often. Change it for a full dictation in the other language; this does not translate the app interface.
This changes how the large microphone button behaves in the app. “Hold” records while you hold the button; “Tap” starts with one tap and finishes with the next.
When enabled, transcribed text is copied to the clipboard immediately and saved to History. Turn it off to review the text first and decide whether to copy or share it.
The Floating button stays above other apps so you can dictate without returning to Dikto. Turn it on, grant the required permissions, and leave the cursor in the field where you want the text to appear.
Choose the gesture that starts recording:
While recording in either tap mode: a single tap stops and inserts the text; a double tap discards the dictation without transcribing or inserting it.
Drag the button to either side of the screen. In “Hold” mode, move it while not recording so dragging is not mistaken for holding to dictate.
“Display over other apps” lets Android show the button above the app you are using. Without this permission, the Floating button cannot appear.
“Text insertion” enables the accessibility service only so Dikto can insert transcribed text into the active field. Without it, dictation still works, but the text is only copied and must be pasted manually.
“Microphone and notifications” enables speech recording and shows the persistent Android notification while the Floating button is running. Dikto records only when you start dictation; the notification shows that the service is active.
“System” automatically follows your phone theme. Choose “Light” or “Dark” for a fixed appearance in Dikto.
Enter the ElevenLabs API key Dikto uses for transcription. The key is stored encrypted on this phone and should not be shared.
History stores previous dictations locally on your phone so you can reopen or copy them. “Clear history” removes every saved dictation from the device; save any text you need before confirming.
