Connect Dikto to ElevenLabs

Dikto needs a personal ElevenLabs API key to turn your speech into text. You do not need any technical experience — just follow these eight steps.

ElevenLabs uses English labels, so the button names below are written exactly as they appear on screen.

Create an ElevenLabs account

Go to elevenlabs.io and choose Sign up. You can register with an email address or your Google account. If you already have an account, choose Sign in.

Verify your email

If you registered by email, open the message from ElevenLabs and select Verify email. Then return to ElevenLabs and sign in.

Cannot find the message?

Check your Spam or Junk folder and wait a minute or two. Also make sure you entered the correct address.

Open API Keys

In ElevenLabs, open the profile menu in the lower-left corner and choose API Keys. You can also open the API Keys page directly.

Choose “API Keys” in the profile menu.

Create a new key

Select Create API Key and name it Dikto so it is easy to recognize later.

If ElevenLabs lets you choose permissions, restrict the key to Speech to Text. This gives the key access only to the service Dikto needs.

Copy the key

When the new key appears, select Copy. Do not change it or add spaces — Dikto needs the complete value exactly as shown.

The key is shown only once.

Treat it like a password: do not send it in a message, publish it, or share a screenshot that reveals it. If you lose it, delete it and create a new one.

Paste the key into Dikto

Open Dikto on the device where you want to dictate. You only need to enter the key once, and you can replace it later in Settings.

On Windows

Open Settings → API key, paste the key into the field, and save it. Dikto will confirm whether the key was added successfully.

On Android

On first launch, paste the key into the API key step in the setup guide. If you have already completed setup, open Settings → API key.

How much does it cost?

ElevenLabs offers a free tier with a limited number of credits that renew each month. It is a good way to try Dikto and see how it fits your workflow.

If you dictate every day, you may need a paid ElevenLabs plan. Prices and included credits can change, so check their current pricing page before choosing.

Dikto does not charge you for credits.

You pay ElevenLabs directly for credits and any subscription.

Your key stays secure

Your key is stored locally and encrypted on your device.

On Windows it is protected with Windows DPAPI, and on Android with Android Keystore. Dikto never sends the key anywhere else — it is used only to communicate directly with ElevenLabs when you dictate.

If you ever think someone has seen your key, delete it from the ElevenLabs API Keys page and create a new one.
